SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT – MULTIPLE MEANINGS YET UNAMBIGUOUS NECESSITY

Viktorija Bojović

Abstract: We are witnessing a number of issues that are surrounding us and are becoming global: there are fewer resources, while the needs are growing. These are problems of increasing population, unequal distribution of wealth as well as health and education services. All the above is a reason sufficient enough for requiring a new approach to solving the observed problems. This paper will attempt to answer the question: what is a new paradigm that is exceedingly needed? Explaination of the determinants of sustainability and the reasons necessary for the formation of a new concept provide the basis for better understanding of the problems arising from the need for mind-shifting towards problem solution and debates that follow.
